The actress was born in the city of Los Angeles, on 16 September in 1958 to a mother who worked as an actor but failed at it and a father who made a living selling automobiles. Jennifer, the second-oldest of her four siblings, went to numerous theater performances with her mother. Jennifer was impressed. When Jennifer was five years old the divorce of her parents took place. Jennifer spent the majority of her childhood in British Columbia when her mother was able to move there with four kids. The theater interest diminished during the time she was in high school in the end, and consequently she was a regular participant in theater in addition to help from her mother.
