Janney began her TV debut during 1999. She was C. J. Cregg as part of NBC's political series The West Wing from 1999-2006, where she received Four Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney was awarded an award called the Primetime Emmy Award for 2014 Outstanding Guest actor in a Drama Series, after her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime series Masters of Sex.
